Yesteryears Dancers are making
the past come alive for all heritage-minded Californians, families and
historical buffs alike, by recreating three centuries of dance, both by
performances and audience participation, at museums, festivals and historical
re-enactment functions around Southern California.

Yesteryears Dancers is a semi-professional
troupe of costumed ladies and gentlemen, that recreate authentic dances
of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries under the artistic direction
of Mademoisell Irene Ujda, for museums, festivals and historical re-enactment
functions around Southern California, including Heritage Days at the Banning
Residence Museum, 150th Anniversary of Rancho Los Cerritos and the 1847
Treaty at Campo de Cahuenga, 100th Anniversary of Historic George Key Ranch,
and the 200th Anniversary of Mission San Luis Rey. Yesteryears
Dancers have performed Early California & Gold Rush dances for El Pueblo
de Los Angeles Historical Monument, Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society,
the Workman-
Temple Homestead Museum, and
Masters College Alumni Fiesta at Gene Autry's Melody Ranch; the Cakewalk
at the West Coast Ragtime Festival; a Moxart Minuet at the Feather Awards;
Colonial dances for a Knots Berry Farm's Fourth of July fest, 18th c. French
court and 19th c. Parisian ballroom dances at the annual Bastille Day French
Festival in Santa Barbara; Civil War dances at the Civil War Drum Barracks,
Old Port Redondo Days, William S. Hart Ranch, Grand Military Encampments
in San Diego and Battle of Shiloh in Thousand Oaks; and late Victorian
Dances for Beverly Hills and Upland Historical Societies' home tours.
Yesteryears Dancers' Film
credits include "North and South, Part I and II", "Glory", and "Geronimo"
and period television work with local studios.

Irene Ujda began her dance training as a child
in ballet, Polish folk and ballroom dance, and as a UCLA graduate student
in the 1970's majored in World Dance Cultures. Since 1983, Irene has taken
classes nationwide and in Europe in historical ballroom dances of all major
eras, including with noted dance scholars and teachers Desmond Strobel,
Wendy Hilton, Angene Feves, Albert Pill, Ricahrd Powers, Elizabeth Aldrich,
Frankie Manning, and others. Irene assisted Desmond in films and
television on "North and South", "Glory", "Once Upon A Texas Train", "Geronimo",
"An American Legend", "Dynasty", and others.
